Intermediate spaces should be more than mere utilitarian circulation. They can be functional, integrated and can set the tone and ambiance as one transitions between spaces. Upon entering the home through a private lift, a dimly lit foyer plastered in a dark green texture paired with a lattice screen lends itself as a spatial and visual buffer before an open plan dining and living space. A series of bi-fold windows and timber panels allows the adjacent kitchen and powder room and guest room to be properly partitioned and open when required seamlessly.
A framed corridor entrance acts as a subtle transition between common and private spaces of the house. A single continuous expression of the timber paneled wall carefully conceals the various bedrooms and powder room. Organised in a linear typology, the master wardrobe, bathroom and bedroom are sequenced in a functional logic and hierarchy, where one’s day ends restfully in the bedroom, tucked away in the furthest corner of the house. The various spaces of the home are then unified through a carefully curated combination of accents, screens and materiality.
