WORK 004

A Simple Flat

With the client requirements in mind, we started the design with the separation of the ‘daytime’ space such as Living, Dining, Kitchen space and ‘night time’ where the sleeping quarter can be closed off. Within the sleeping quarter, the wardrobe is placed within the vestibule where the bedrooms and bathroom are connected. The master and kid bedroom can be individually closed with sliding door or connected via vestibule to become one big room which this small close knitted family appreciate.

With ritual of closing and opening the door to the ‘day’ time space marks the start and end of each day. The day starts with the door opened into the ‘white’ space which gives the child the extra space to run around and play. All the bay windows are cladded in timber veneer, the frame accentuate the clean line and structure of the windows.

A small concrete island near the entrance is where grocery are placed and sorted. The kitchen can be enclosed when required and acts as a passageway to the laundry yard and the common bath which can be accessed from the yard and living room.

The cabinet wall neatly stretches the width of the interior from the entrance to the window to increase storage space before turning down to the TV console to meet the height of the bay window. At the entrance threshold, a privacy screen with the division which corresponds to the birthday of the 3 occupant:-
