STUDY : Hill House

Working within the confines of an irregular shaped plot and site coverage requirements, the strategy was to finesse the massing of the building into two staggered volumes rather than a singular bulky block, creating an intermediate space where light, nature and activities can be introduced. Interestingly enough, the shift in the floor plan almost immediately creates sizeable spaces for unique functions to be housed within each block and level, which are unified through circulation and various communal spaces.

Pitch roofs act to soften the form of the orthogonal blocks which also coincides with the setback requirements of the site.
