STUDY : House inside a Garden

Directly facing the western sun and a five-storey apartment building, the house was design to mitigate against these external unpleasantries. With limited views adjacent to the site to capitalize on, we introduced a series of landscape volumes that was strategically inserted throughout the building, providing privacy and also allowing the internal spaces to enjoy these extended gardens.

Monolithic brick planes provide a shield against the evening sun and undesirable views into the house. As the gardens start to weave between and wrap around the planes, it softens the monotony which results in a cohesive form while also connecting the internal spaces together, creating moments for communal interaction.
